Self-efficacy is the extent or strength of one's belief in one's own ability to complete tasks and reach goals. An appropriate assistance from a counselor to improve self efficacy is by applying symbolic modeling techniques namely strategies in guidance and counseling by using the process of learning through observation of models and behavioral changes that occur due to imitation. This study used pre-experimental research with one group pretest posttest design. The subject is 25 students of guidance and counseling selected by using simple random sampling method. The instruments used are self-efficacy scale and self-reflection sheets. The data are analyzed by paired sample t test. The result of the study showed that symbolic modeling is effective to improve the students' self-efficacy. The average score of the student self-efficacy increased from 96,24 before the treatment to 125,56 after the treatment.
