Abstract

The research objectives is to find out the relationship between the education level of parents and the fifth grader’s interest in social studies at Sukun Elementary School of Malang. The research method used in this study is a quantitative study which applies correlation design. The result of the study shows that rxy = 0,9924885575 or rh rt. It is based on the rt table at the significant standard 1% = 0,403 or 5% = 0,313. Therefore, the the hypothesis of Ha is accepted meanwhile hypothesis of Ho is rejected. (1) The biggest number of education level of parents is in Senior High School level. It is 16 people (40%). The level of bachelor degree is 5 people (12,5%). Based on the explanation above, the conclusion is that the educatin level of parents is not in the low level because many of them are in senior high school degree. (2) The learning interest of 40 students shows that the learning interest of students reach the score 75-79 for 10 people (25%). Then, the highest score reaches 90-95 for 4 people (10%). This result shows that the learning interest of students is high.
