Inability of teenagers to control emotion in facing pressure, stress and social demand in the adolescence has caused many social issues. Adaptive coping skill is any effort, both mental and behavior, to control, tolerate, decrease, or minimize situation or incident full of pressure. One of the efforts to improve adaptive coping skill of students is by making manual of adaptive coping skill. The manual developed was adapted from the procedure proposed by Borg & Gall in three stages, namely preliminary study, development, and try out. Preliminary study stage covers need assessment and literary study. Development stage produces manual draft of adaptive coping skill. And try out stage contains three stages namely limited field trial, wider field trial, and final field trial. The result of limited field trial and users showed that manual of adaptive coping skill was effectively tested since it has met the criteria of acceptance. The final field trial was conducted using Single Subject Research (SSR),A-B-A design with 6 subjects. Based on the reslt of research, the improvement varied in every skill indicator with the percentage of the improvement 6.88% for problem solving skill, 28,23% for support seeking strategy skill, 22,05% for avoidance skill, and 13,89% for externalizing skill.Overall, the result of research revealed that role playing can improve adaptive coping skill of students. Therefore, training manual of adaptive coping skill of junior high school students was effectively tested to improve adaptive coping skill of students Kata kunci: Panduan Pelatihan, Keterampilan Coping Adaptif, Siswa SMP
