Abstract

Cities as the concentration of activity locations experiencing rapid population growth. The urban development requires the provision of facilities that quite a lot, where the development of the city will cause some problems. One persistent problem encountered is the reduction of green public space (RTH) in the city. Problem of the decreasing availability of green open space is currently experienced by the city of Malang. Developments Malang quite rapidly bring on negative consequences on several aspects, including the environment. In the early stages of development of the city of Malang, most of the land is a green open space. Green public space in Malang tends to be a regional land use konversii awakened. Most of its surface, particularly in the downtown area covered by roads, buildings and others with a very complex character and distinct character of green public space. The purpose of writing to determine people's perception of the existence and the environmental benefits are given green space in the city, in order to support the comfort, beauty, and can support sustainability. The method used in writing this article is descriptive qualitative in-depth interview. The results showed that the people of Malang City has a high enthusiasm of the green space in the city of Malang. This is evidenced by the visit communities that continue to increase in some locations RTH, such as: Square Malang, Malabar State Forest and Wildlife Merjosari.
